You moved into a house with an existing security system
Sometimes when people purchase a home, a modern security system is already in use. All the components work, are hung in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, you might find that you have to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to ensure there are no compatibility issues, and they could offer options on upgrades. It's a fast appointment, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new components -- unless you add on.
The previous owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to your family for a nominal transfer fee to make your life a snap. If the outgoing residents are moving to a condo or smaller home, you keeping the home security service may be a part of the sale.
You need to move and bring your home security devices with you
You might need to bring your old Vivint system with you to a new home when you move. It should be pretty easy to do, as modern components are wireless. You can take down each alarm or camera by yourself or call a Vivint installer to come and dismantle your devices. Then our installers will put in the same features -- and any additions you want to make -- in the new place. The home security contract will remain the same.
